Ladan Nouhani
About the Artist
Ladan's artistic journey was forged amidst profound change. The turbulence of the Iran-Iraq war led her family to Isfahan, a city renowned as the cradle of Persian artistry. It was here, surrounded by the intricate beauty of Persian crafts, that the first seeds of her creative passion were sown in 1996.
While initially encouraged to pursue a career in medicine, Ladan quickly recognised that her true calling was not in the sciences, but in the vibrant world of art. Embracing her passion, she enrolled at the Isfahan Pardis Art College, dedicating herself to the study of Modern Painting. Her innate talent was immediately apparent, leading her professors to encourage a debut exhibition alongside two fellow students. The event was a resounding success, with every piece sold—a clear affirmation of her burgeoning career.
Driven by an insatiable hunger for knowledge, this early success was not an end goal, but a beginning. Ladan sought to deepen her skills by studying under some of Isfahan's most celebrated contemporary artists. In a pivotal move in 1999, she began her studies at the workshop of Mahmoud Farshchian, the world-renowned master of Persian miniature painting. Under his tutelage, she mastered the delicate complexities of watercolour, ink, and the science of colour (Colorology), developing unique pigments and materials that would become a hallmark of her work. The resulting masterpieces, a fusion of traditional discipline and modern vision, were soon hosted in museums and exhibitions across the world.
This intense dedication, however, came at a physical cost. Overwork led to a diagnosis of osteoarthritis in her neck and spine, and doctors advised her to stop painting. Yet, her creative spirit refused to be defeated. During this challenging period of healing, Ladan immersed herself in research, studying the world's greatest painters and forging her own unique artistic language.
Her health thankfully improved, and with a renewed sense of purpose and a singular style, she opened her own gallery in 2011. Since then, her work—a culmination of her rich Persian heritage, classical training, and contemporary vision—has garnered significant interest and critical acclaim in both local and international exhibitions.
Today, Ladan is an accomplished and experienced artist living in Hale, Cheshire, with her husband and two wonderful sons. From her personal gallery in the UK, she continues to share her extraordinary journey and captivating artworks with the world.
